Cityscape Drawings
The Cityscape drawings came about out of a long desire starting as a kid to someday live in New York and experience life in the city as envisioned by so many movies and southern urban myths. Of course once you get here those romantic dreams that was once brought on as a result of those movies and stories gets completely lost in the reality of day to day living. These drawings are made as composites from more than one source at times, at other times the influence might be from a specific neighborhood or vantage point while walking. Still other images combine skylines from more than one city or the occasional invented structure. They are made mostly with graphite and sometimes both charcoal and graphite. This series began in 2003 and I work in a variey of sizes, 42 x 51, 22 x 30 and 11 x 14 as late as 2015.
